The Mine Train Adventure + Village Explorer

The George & Charlotte Copper Mine is the only open copper mine in Britain.

Our Mine Train Adventure attraction commences with a 25 minute cinematic presentation looking at Morwellham when it was a thriving Victorian Village built on the back of the copper mine and traces the life of one of the miners living the experience. This is followed by a train ride through the George & Charlotte Copper Mine.

The train ride takes approximately 35 minutes and provides an insight as to how the George and Charlotte mine operated in the 18th and 19th centuries. This begins with a trip along the upper banks of the River Tamar before entering the far end of the mine where visitors are taken deep underground on the train and the story of hard rock mining is told by your Victorian copper miner amidst an historical and authentic backdrop.

You are welcome to arrive from 11am but please make sure you arrive no later than 30 minutes before your chosen train time to allow time for everyone to be checked in.

The Mine Train Adventure starts promptly at the time on your ticket.
You can explore the village at your own pace, visiting the many buildings and exhibits.
Parking: We have a large free car park. Drive straight through the village to the end of the road.

If you require disabled parking please stop in the village and a member of staff will direct you to our disabled parking area.
