Group Visits Information – 2020
Suitable for all ages, Morwellham Quay is an award-winning attraction which forms part of a World Heritage site, featuring historic port, village, copper mine and railway just four miles west of Tavistock and bordering the beautiful River Tamar. Discover this lost world with the help of our interactive living history team.
From 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week.
We suggest that you allow two to four hours for a visit.
Extremely good value. Prices available for groups of 16 or over, when booked and paid for by one person.
A 40 minute train ride, 20 minutes taking in the views of the River Tamar before entering the George and Charlotte copper mine. (40 people at a time)
Hands on and Interactive Activities:
Join the costumes guides as they show you how life was for a Victorian at Morwellham. Become Victorian school children, help make a piece of rope, smash rocks to find copper, make your own bread roll and chocolate lolly.
BBC’s Edwardian Farm:
Visit Ruth’s Cottage where the BBC filmed Edwardian Farm. Meet some of the animals featured in the series.
More Things to See and Do:
Wander around the cottages, compare the rich to the poor, watch our blacksmith or potter at work and try on Victorian clothes.
A variety of snacks, hot and cold lunches, homemade cakes and cream teas can be found in The Ship Inn (our restaurant and tea rooms).
Because of the age of the site and buildings, there are some cobbled areas and steps into buildings. Please ask on booking about assistance in getting to the mine train.
From Tavistock in Devon, follow the brown signs - take the A390 towards Liskeard and bear left after two miles. From Cornwall, follow the signs on the A390 towards Tavistock and turn right 1 mile after Gunnislake.
