Ragged Victorian Weekend Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th May

The Ragged Victorians are back at Morwellham for the Bank Holiday weekend, this year bringing a gypsy camp! Offering a fun and interactive weekend for the whole family, plus if you are a keen photographer it's the perfect opportunity to bring your camera.

The "Ragged Victorians" have a variety of characters and skills, that include street history, educational talks and living history.

Back in the day when a shilling was a weeks wage, when even 'Pure' (Dogs Dung) was a valuable source of income, low class Victorians were living by whatever means they could. With no homes, no income and no benefit system for support, an honest days work could mean labouring the most degrading jobs in the world, for little or scant reward, to which many of the mining community at Morwellham in the Victorian era would readily relate.

We are also excited to announce, that joining them this year will be a Rifle Brigade Re-enactment Group, portraying soldiers on a training exercise from 1855.

Plus, join Morwellham's costumed guides for the interactive and hands on activities.

Camping is available on Friday, Saturday and or Sunday nights.
