Course: Bushcraft and Survival

‘Photo to be added shortly’

Tutor: Ross Burt - Ross was born with an indefectible connection to nature. He grew up close to both the Dartmoor National Park and also the South West coast sea shore. This close access has been a huge influence in his life and has led him to devote much time and effort into how best to project his Bushcraft and Survival enthusiasm along with his artistic talents. (His Art can be seen at www.facebook.com/bushart.commissions)

Ross has combined his knowledge of woodlands, the natural environment and his innate artistic flare to enhance his Bushcraft and Survival subjects. He received no formal training and being self taught he considers the best way to advance his skills is to learn from his own mistakes and the experiences of others - constantly improving.

Ross left school to become an engineer, he ended his engineering career as a project manager for a structural engineering firm. During this engineering period he was constantly torn between the job in hand and his passion for the Bushcraft subject teaching it part time. So he decided to take the leap many years ago and he became self employed teaching and practicing in all aspects of Bushcraft. Since making this decision, he has not looked back culminating in employment with Woodlore, headed up by celebrity Ray Mears also with Footsteps of Discovery amongst others. Enhancing his Survival and teaching he worked with jungle warfare instructor Spanner (Tony) Manley MBE over many years, Spanner took Ross under his wing and passed on his experiences and knowledge giving Ross an excellent foundation of the survival subject matter. They still work together to this day giving a specialised BushCraft, survival Package.

Ross has taught clients through a large spectrum from School Children, Youth Group Organizations, Corporate Russian Bankers, Regular and Reserve Forces, Junior Soldiers, CCF, ACF, Nurses and Midwifes, right the way through to Stag and Hen Parties.
