Food and Farming at Morwellham Quay
Traditional farming, fresh local produce
Morwellham Farm is embarking on a new venture. Significant investment has been seen across the Estate lately: all fields have been newly fenced in preparation for cattle, sheep and pigs and a 200-tree orchard has been planted with local Tamar apple varieties for juicing and cider-making. During Spring 2009 the restored historic cottage garden terraces have been planted with a range of produce - from potatoes to peaches - eventually supplying the Ship Inn with the freshest of ingredients whilst cutting down on 'food miles' in the process.
From summer 2009 the historic core of the Farm and Stables, with its newly created Granary Education Room, will be open for booked parties - from schools to playgroups - call for details.
